Carolyn Thompson Night Terrors Ghost

Night Terrors

Night Terrors is a set of three archival pigment prints based on gothic stories. The words ‘ghost’, ‘vampire’ and ‘monster’ have been copied from their original positions on the pages of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Dracula by Bram Stoker and Frankenstein by Mary Shelly respectively. The effect created highlights the depiction of spirits and monsters in Gothic novels, as transparent and ephemeral entities, whilst emphasizing the idea that these entities may be merely figments of the imagination.

2016, 3 x archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Photo rag, 19.7 x 12.5cm (each of three prints) Edition of 15
