The piece explores the influence of reading and the push and pull of the book, in a world where social media has made self-affirmative memes and trolling commonplace, while speaking of broader issues of global inequality, where some are told ‘you’re worth it’, and other are told they’re not.

It’s not you, it’s me, is an installation of approximately 5,000 quotes, all beginning with the word You, typed from all the novels read by the artist during the Covid pandemic.

En masse, and out of context, these clusters of You statements become an onslaught of motivations and allegations, some frivolous or humorous, others insightful or even sinister.
